The best-selling local Trikke dealers of all-time can now add another title to their growing list of accomplishments: a three-peat as South Tampa’s Best Bike Shop.
For the third consecutive year, a South Tampa News and Tribune readers’ poll sang the praises of Street Fit 360, a store owned by Andy and Jana Clark, the husband and wife behind behind Trikke Tampa, which is housed inside their bike shop.
“It doesn’t mean we sell better bikes and other fitness-related products,” said Andy Clark. “We take care of our customers. [The award] shows our dedication to customer service.”
While the Clarks started Trikke Tampa in 2005, Street Fit 360 only came into being three years ago, selling everything from traditional bikes to the Randy Ross Stepper Bike, the Footbike and of course, Trikkes. All this gives the Clarks a front row seat to the parade of imaginative and unique mutations of the two-wheel bike.
So does the best selling Trikke dealer of all time and South Tampa’s Best Bike Shop, which is one in the same, see the popularity of three-wheel carving vehicles and other alternatives to traditional bikes rising, leveling off or declining?
“Definitely rising!” said Andy Clark. “For older adults, it can simply be that they can’t take the seat [of a bike] anymore, or are just bored with cycling. Now with the advent of human-powered fitness machines, such as the Trikke, it gives a person a unique, intriguing and fun way of staying fit.”
